First Inter-Regional Coalition to end FGM Joint Statement

Our Coalition aims to enable better coordination among civil society working towards the abandonment of FGM at different regional and sub-regional levels and increase collaboration and information sharing to help keep momentum and accelerate change to end FGM worldwide through improved cooperation across regions. “It is important that the practice of FGM is exposed in South East Asia, especially in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines, and to discuss ways to end such harmful practice. IPPF-ESEAOR will start the process within its Member-Associations and will join other CSOs and Coalitions advocating to end FGM”, concluded Nora Murat, Regional Director, International Planned Parenthood Federation East and South East Asia Regional Office.

Director General visits Kuala Lumpur Regional Office and leads its "re-opening"

Dr.Alvaro Bermejo, the IPPF Director General (DG), recently visited and led the re-opening ceremony of the ESEAOR Regional Office (RO) in Kuala Lumpur. During the event, the DG conveyed his gratitude to Nora Murat, the Regional Director of ESEAOR, and the staff for navigating through extremely uncertain times during the relocation period. Among others present at this event were; Professor Paul Yip, Acting Regional Chairperson; members of the Regional Executive Committee; Executive Directors; East and Southeast Asia Member Associations; members of ESEAOR’s Regional Youth Forum, and Secreteriat.

Developed for the Pacific by the Pacific and grounded in IPPF's Global Strategic Framework 2016-2022, Niu Vaka provides the roadmap for catalysing sustainable impact and building on the  sexual and reproductive health and rights gains in the region.  The strategy aims to support Member Associations across the Pacific in a holistic and integrated way to build their capacity and sustainability, enabling them to reach more people and to ensure they can continue to do so into the future.
