The Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother, is a non-profit organization and a leading sexual and reproductive health (SRH) learning agency supporting population’s quality of life to sustainable development, with more than 52 years of operation. The primary aim of PPAT is to support sexual and reproductive well-being of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, economic status and other diverse backgrounds. With support from government and private sectors, PPAT also bridges the gap where government is unable to cover, by providing services particularly to people with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sexual characteristics.
With strong linkages with NGOs, government sectors and private agencies to move forward SRHR work and advocacy, PPAT is able to operate through 52 service delivery points, including 10 permanent clinics and 15 mobile units, in offering a broad-spectrum service from Family Planning, Safe Abortion Care, Maternal and Child Care, and HIV/AIDs and STIs, to Elderly Care. PPAT is not only providing health and medical services, but is also expanding into Nursing Homes, in response to ageing population needs in our society. Despite challenges, PPAT relies on human rights principles and diversity in creating a more inclusive program to improve all people’s quality of life and SRHR accessibility in Thailand.
